Here's a lil proof: The New Guitar Gods
It doesn’t hurt that he can sing either. No wonder he picked up Jennifer Aniston. (Or was that the other way around? Who knows?)
Gorgeous, No?
Anyway, the song is John Mayer’s “New Deep”, which on some levels is quite a philosophical track. It's actually really inspiring...To me at least.
What I took from the song, is that we too often over-think things. We try to find the answers to questions that we simply can’t answer; at least on our own. I have this philosophy that I admit is harder to stay true to than it is to speak: “The best way to find something is to stop looking for it”. It works. Even if you don’t know that it does.
Think back on the past year or two of your life and some things that have happened. A job that fell into your lap when you weren't searching for one. A new friend you met almost "movie like" at a time where you really needed a friend. A song you heard that helped you answer some question you had pondered for some time. That girl at a your friends party who you just "clicked" with when you were just trying to have a good time. It happens more frequently and discreetly than you would imagine. I think it's quite the phenomenon.
Having the right attitude about life is everything. But in combination with that attitude, you should trust your instincts. That’s something I can say has worked well for me about 95% of the time. And when it doesn’t net the results I desire or anticipate, then my instincts for that situation are modified for next time. It’s a pretty good system.
I hope for most of us, 2009 has been pretty light so far; nothing too taxing on the mind, body or soul. But if it does, try this:
“Calm down
Deep breaths
And get yourself dressed instead
Of running around
And pulling all your threads and
Breaking yourself up”
Deep breaths
And get yourself dressed instead
Of running around
And pulling all your threads and
Breaking yourself up”
~ Jason Mraz, “Details in the Fabric”

“The best way to find something is to stop looking for it”.
ReplyDeletefor some reason, that REALLY DOES work. That thought has always like sat in the back of my mind during certain times. but only certain times, it comes up a lot when i can't find two socks that match. haha :D
I thank you for actually stating it here. Shows me that someone else believes it too! :)
Thanks again Superman! :D
