"I Wanna Write a Story"
by: Brent Trotter
I wanna write a story…
With adventure and epiphanies,
romance and heartbreak,
cliché’s and mysteries.
Surreal and fantastical, with a tid bit of tragedy
A real page turner, with twists oracles couldn’t see
It’ll have dreams about dreams, and foreshadowing things
Making people ponder, “Is this talking about me?”
Character developments like you’ve never seen.
You’ll cry when they cry. You’ll bleed when they bleed.
It’ll never quite turn where you think that it will.
But the inherent drama will be steady uphill.
Highlighted passages, and bookmarked pages
New York Times Bestseller: “This one’s for the ages”
It’ll be full of life lessons and timeless wisdom to spread
One of those novels you keep adjacent your bed
I haven’t yet decided where I want it to go
But I have a few ideas, a general flow
You see, nothing’s set in stone, everything is pending
All I know for sure is that I want a happy ending.
You see, I wanna write a story…
With thrills and some chills in it
Wait, to hell with the story
I’d much rather be living it
